CO2SS research presented at the XXVII International Congress of Mechanical Engineering in Florianópolis, Brazil
The XXVII International Congress of Mechanical Engineering – COBEM took place from December 4th to 8th, 2023, in Florianópolis city, Brazil. Members of the co2ss project presented research focusing on qualifying sites for CO2 storage and experiments related to dissolution patterns in interfaces exhibiting behaviors akin to CO2/brine. Two specific papers were showcased: “Distance-to-Trap Weighting Functions for Selection and Ranking of CO2 Storage Sites,” presented by Prof. Gustavo Oliveira from the Northeast team, and “Convective Patterns in Hele-Shaw Flows Driven by Density Gradients and Chemical Composition Changes,” represented at the event by Prof. Norberto Mangiavacchi and Dr. Rachel Lucena, both researchers from the Southeast team. The former is an aspect of doctoral candidate José Wilker Lima’s thesis (PPGEM/UFPB), while the latter forms part of the research of master’s student Bernardo Marcussi (PPGEM/UERJ), under Dr. Rachel’s guidance.
